Fuji TV announced on the 2nd that a new series in the Dragon Ball anime franchise, titled Dragon Ball DAIMA, will begin airing on October 11th at 11:40 PM. This marks the first late-night broadcast for the Dragon Ball series, which is returning to TV six years after the conclusion of Dragon Ball Super in March 2018.

On this day, Fuji TV also revealed the creation of a new anime slot on Fridays. The first show to debut in this slot will be Dragon Ball DAIMA, airing at 11:40 PM. Previously, Dragon Ball series anime were broadcast during prime-time slots like Wednesdays at 7:00 PM or Sundays at 9:00 AM, making this the first time the series will air late at night. Dragon Ball DAIMA is a completely new anime series with an original storyline penned by Akira Toriyama, who has been deeply involved in the production, including the creation of the story, character design, and various settings. The plot follows Goku and his friends as they are shrunk by a mysterious conspiracy and embark on a journey to solve the mystery in an unknown, magical world.
