The story and preview images for Episode 12 of the TV anime The Rising of the Shield Hero (JP: 盾の勇者の成り上がり, Tate no Yūsha no Nariagari) Season 4 have been released. The episode will air on Wednesday, September 24 at 9:00 PM JST and will later be available on streaming platforms in various countries.

The past emperor takes over Shildina’s body and renders punishment unto Makina. Makina, now a ghost, tries to fight back, but she’s helpless in the face of Naofumi’s party’s teamwork. But in exchange for releasing Shildina, the past emperor wants to challenge Raphtalia to a one-on-one duel?!

About The Rising of the Shield Hero

The anime is based on a popular novel that surpassed 300 million page views on the user-generated fiction site "Shōsetsuka ni Narō." The story follows Naofumi Iwatani, an ordinary otaku college student who is suddenly summoned to another world. There, he is chosen as the Shield Hero—one of the Four Cardinal Heroes alongside the Sword, Spear, and Bow Heroes—tasked with defending the world from waves of catastrophic destruction. However, after being betrayed by his companions, he loses everything—his money, status, and trust—and must rise from the depths of despair. The TV anime first aired in 2019, followed by Season 2 in 2022 and Season 3 in 2023.
